Mold Prevention
Student Housing’s top priority is the health and safety of all of our residents. If you believe you may have active mold growth in your room, please fill out a Maintenance Request Form so that our Facilities Team are notified and can respond.
Where Does Mold Come From?
Mold is a natural part of the environment and given a consistent source of moisture mold can grow almost anywhere. It is easy for mold spores to be transported indoors through clothes, shoes, open doors, and windows. When these mold spores are exposed to wet or humid conditions, they can begin to colonize and grow. In accordance with the CDC, keeping spaces clean, dry, and allowing proper air circulation can help prevent mold from growing. Click here for more detailed information from the CDC regarding mold.
The goal of the Department of Student Housing is to provide suggestions to help ensure that mold does not have the chance to grow in individual rooms. We have taken a number of preventative measures to aid in this goal, and we expect our residents to do their part in keeping our communities mold free.
